BIODYNAMIC CRANIAL APPROACH

Be Still and Know I Am

...words etched on the grave markers of the founder of Osteopathy in the Cranial Field Dr. William Garner Sutherland and his wife Adah Strand Sutherland.

Dr. Sutherland transmitted biodynamics orally to a close inner circle of students. After Dr. Sutherland's death, Dr. Rollin Becker kept the flame alive and evolved it through his writings adding influences from his connection to Kashmir Shaivism. Today, we bask in elegant articulations and precise definitions of biodynamics crafted by Dr. James Jealous.

This work honors this lineage and yet is not limited by it. The biodynamics we teach is not a treatment model. “Treatment happens” as a bi-product and on multiple levels at the same time as part of a loving, creative impulse towards Wholeness. What has been referred to as cranial enfoldments are recognized as non-separate expressions of embodied consciousness. The early embryological forces that guide our growth and development are the same forces behind the transmutative changes that occur in this work.

We don’t yet know what the body is for!

“Our challenge today is to trust the power of love at the heart of life, to let ourselves be seized by love, to create and invent ways for love to evolve into a global wholeness of unity, compassion, justice, and peacemaking.”
